However, after years of searching census records, it is always great to put faces to names that have become as familiar to me as my own neighbors. The only unidentified photo was #27, possibly because two photos corresponded with one business ad (perhaps #28, Patton & Hall). Imagine, films changed every day And sewing machines guaranteed 5 years, period, no matter what. The ad for the Theatre Premier gives us a look at the beginning of movies theaters. Although they are marred by crayon, I have included photos & copy of the texts of these original advertisements as they are interesting to read and besides helping with identification, are history lessons in themselves. The copy of the page in my possession is marked in crayon by someone who apparently knew these businesses well who possibly won the jackpot. This is a fun "Who's Who in Amsterdam" contest from a 1910 Amsterdam Evening Recorder - the front page consisted of photos of 30 local businessmen the reverse, advertisements from various corresponding businesses to be matched with the photos.
